Privacy policy

Information collected

We collect heart rate, heart rate variability and sleep from your Garmin or Apple Watch. We also collect your name, email, Garmin user ID and birth month and year. We do not collect your location or other watch data. This site does not use cookies or tracking.

Use

We use the information to calculate recovery measures, such as overnight low heart rate, and compare them with your own recent averages. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising, marketing or training AI models, and no AI makes decisions about you. This is not a medical device.

Sharing

Only Dr. Phillips and the student team can see the information. We do not share it with any third party except Supabase, the database service in the United States that stores it, or where the law requires. Garmin and Apple handle your data under their own privacy policies.

Security

Security measures protect the information from loss, misuse and alteration. It is encrypted when sent and stored, and only authorized users with a password can read it.

Retention and deletion

We keep the information until the project ends in June 2027, then destroy it. If you ask, we will destroy your information within 30 days.

Consent

By connecting your watch you consent to this policy. To stop sharing, remove our app in Garmin Connect (More, Settings, Connected Apps) or turn it off in Settings, Privacy & Security, Health on your iPhone. To get a copy of your information or correct it, email david.phillips@osucascades.edu.
